Opus Clinical Suite Achieves 08 CCHIT Certification as Inpatient EHR

Opus Healthcare Solutions, Inc. announced today that OpusClinicalSuite(R) Version 2.3 has met the criteria set by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) for receiving 08 Inpatient EHR certification. The certification is designated by CCHIT as pre-market conditional pending verified installation of the CCHIT Certified(R) version in an acute care hospital. CCHIT Certified product certification designates that a health information technology product has been tested against a set of functionality, interoperability and security criteria and has passed inspection of 100 percent of the criteria.

As of June 25, 2009, Opus Healthcare is one of only two companies that currently have received CCHIT certification under the 08 criteria for this classification.

The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology is a private non-profit organization recognized by the federal government as an official certification body for healthcare information technology (HIT) products. Their mission is to accelerate the adoption of robust, interoperable health information technology throughout the United States by creating an efficient, credible and sustainable certification program.

Tim Rhoads, Chief Executive Officer of Opus Healthcare Solutions, noted “We are very pleased to be a leader in the 08 CCHIT Certified Inpatient EHR category. The 08 criteria, the most current available, is rigorous and comprehensive. We believe that our 08 CCHIT certification will put us squarely on the short list of leading vendors offering certified products that will equip provider organizations to achieve ‘meaningful use,’ a prerequisite for capturing early Federal Stimulus funding in FY2011, as the required standards and certification criteria are released later this year.”

He added, “We believe that the CCHIT certification marks a major validation for our company products and we expect it to lead to significant growth in the next five years. With EHR adoption rates historically low in our target market, Opus Healthcare Solutions is poised for such success; not only because of the legislative financial incentives, but also because of the unique, truly Web-based architecture of the OpusClinicalSuite(R) EHR and its native ASP delivery model should the hospital choose that business model.”

“Many rural and community hospitals find it difficult to attract and retain skilled IT professionals. When we provide our software on an ASP basis, we assume responsibility for installing and updating it, easing the work load on existing staff, and reducing initial upfront costs towards adopting CCHIT Certified EHR technology,” Rhoads said.

The OpusClinicalSuite(R) provides a single point-of-access for clinicians to enter and retrieve all patient clinical information (patient vitals, lab results, medications, imaging results), from the bedside or remote locations such as their office or distant clinics. The suite enables hospitals to meet patient safety issues and implement quality measures for improved patient outcomes.
