Netsmart Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of software and services for health and human services organizations, today announced that Douglas Gardens Community Mental Health of Miami, Fla. has selected Netsmart enterprise software as its integrated Electronic Health Record and billing system, replacing a legacy software system from another behavioral health software provider.

Douglas Gardens will utilize Netsmart’s behavioral health software and related services to manage and integrate key financial, clinical and management processes, and speed and enhance reporting and compliance with the State of Florida.

Douglas Gardens provides mental health programs for the seriously and persistently mentally ill throughout Miami-Dade County. In addition to three residential-based programs, the Center offers a variety of services including, but not limited to, medication management, co-occurring counseling for substance abuse and mental health, case management, housing for the mentally ill homeless, employment services, Alzheimer’s respite, and counseling, housing and case management for victims of domestic violence.

Netsmart’s Avatar software suite will serve as the foundation for the Douglas Gardens implementation. Included is Avatar Practice Management, the Avatar Clinician Workstation Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Netsmart’s comprehensive, workflow-driven Florida state reporting solution within Avatar.

“We expect the EHR will not only increase efficiency and reduce duplicative efforts for our staff, but more importantly, increase the convenience and quality of care for our consumers,” said Francine Massaro, director of admissions, health information management, privacy officer and risk manager. “We’re proud to be part of the Florida family of Netsmart users.”

“We’re pleased to have Douglas Gardens included in the growing group of more than 30 Florida mental health and substance abuse treatment providers that have selected Netsmart as their technology partner,” said James L. Conway, chief executive officer, Netsmart Technologies. “We look forward to helping them achieve their goal of a fully integrated EHR.”
