Allscripts announced today that Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare has selected the Allscripts Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management solution to automate and connect clinical and business functions for their 106 employed providers. The hospital’s 33 Family Medicine residents also will utilize Allscripts in treating patients in the outpatient setting.
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is a private, not-for-profit community health care system that includes a wide variety of outpatient care centers and 770-bed Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, the seventh largest hospital in Florida. Allscripts will implement the integrated Electronic Health Record and Practice Management solution for TMH’s 73 physicians and 33 mid-level providers in its ambulatory practices encompassing family medicine, pediatrics, and behavioral health located in surrounding counties of the Big Bend Region.
Additionally, TMH will use the Allscripts Practice Management solution to automate and streamline billing and other back-office functions for physicians in its urgent care center and other care settings that do not currently use an ambulatory EHR.
“Our goal is to provide our ambulatory physician practices with the technology they need to deliver the best possible care for our patients and to maximize efficiency and cost savings,” said Don Lindsey, Chief Information Officer for TMH. “We hope to give our providers the ability to connect to one another and to other healthcare stakeholders throughout the Big Bend Region, leading to further integration, better coordination of care, and ultimately improved outcomes for our patients.”
TMH’s long term goal is to ensure the exchange of relevant information between the Allscripts solutions and TMH’s Cerner inpatient clinical systems, providing physicians outside the hospital with access to patient information including lab orders and results, medication history, allergies, problem lists, and hospital discharge summaries.
“Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare has established itself as a leader among Florida hospitals by building a truly integrated healthcare network, and Allscripts is excited about the opportunity to provide our solutions to physicians and Emergency Department staff,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “We believe in Tallahassee Memorial’s vision of connected care and integrating both clinical and financial outcomes as a way to truly address the healthcare challenges of quality and cost.”
