MultiCare Health System (www.multicare.org), one of the nation’s top ranked systems for health information technology, has selected Apollo Data Technologies (www.apollodatatech.com/health), a leader in healthcare predictive analytics, to implement its Charge Recovery Solution to capture revenue leakage from missing charges and improve coding compliance.
Based on proven data mining technology, Apollo Data Technologies’ Solutions are customized to address each hospital’s revenue cycle nuances. Apollo’s Charge Recovery Solution automates the identification of missing charges by analyzing all account, charge and clinical data. In head-to-head tests, Apollo has proven its data-driven analytics identify more revenue and higher-value missed charges than manual audits. Traditional rules-based charge capture software is not customized or adaptable to changes in billing processes and therefore only skims the surface in the identification of missed charges.
“Although MultiCare has rules-based charge capture software implemented, we saw significant additional opportunity for revenue capture using Apollo’s predictive analytics Charge Recovery Solution,” Jason L. Adams, Vice President of Revenue Cycle for MultiCare Health System and Principal for MultiCare Consulting Services, a subsidiary of MultiCare Health System. “Apollo’s ability to analyze millions of records and customize clinical and patient analysis for each hospital is the type of solution that will drive the greatest ROI for the revenue cycle, which is essential given the growing economic pressures facing our industry. I am excited to work with Apollo to build on MultiCare’s operational efficiencies which enable us to reinvest in patient care.”
MultiCare, the largest provider in South Western Washington, was recently ranked fourth on Selective Dissemination of Information‘s (SDI) list of Top Integrated Healthcare Networks for 2010, making it the highest ranking among West Coast health systems. MultiCare also is the recipient of the prestigious 2009 HIMSS Davies Organizational Award for Excellence in the implementation and value from health information technology, and was named one of the Top 25 Most Wired Health Systems by Hospital and Health Network. Based in Tacoma, Wash., MultiCare is a not-for-profit integrated health organization made up of four hospitals, including Allenmore Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, and Tacoma General Hospital, and numerous primary care and urgent clinics serving patients in 93 locations.
Apollo’s predictive Charge Recovery Solution detects errors at the claim level so it can identify root causes, allowing auditors to more efficiently and effectively recoup missing charges. As such, the analytics and reporting can determine a specific physician’s billing patterns, for example, offering the information that provides evidence to support comparative effectiveness analysis.
“We’re excited to work with a leader in electronic health record (EHR) technology, like MultiCare. They are following in the footsteps of Fortune 100 companies that have long understood and capitalized on the benefits of software automation to enhance business operations,” said Jeff Kaplan, Chief Executive Officer, Apollo Data Technologies. “Predictive analytics is a game-changing business intelligence tool that provides actionable, high-value results allowing hospitals to save time and resources so they can focus on what they do best—providing best-in-class healthcare.”
