GlobalMedia’s CapSure Medical Imaging Software Validated for Use with DoD/VA VistA System

GlobalMedia Group, LLC, announced today that its CapSure(R) Store and Forward DICOM image automation software has been validated for use within the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) PACS servers following rigorous testing of this solution within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ electronic healthcare records (EHR) system.

The CapSure and CONI(TM) Server applications provide clinicians with the ability to work with, store and forward high resolution, digital images–including real-time video and still images–for secure storage in EMRs.

In achieving validation for its CapSure system, GlobalMedia joins the short list of Fortune 100 companies with VistA validation, including GE  , Philips and Siemens.  Validation means that CapSure DICOM formatted files have been approved to work within the MWL (Modality Work List) for Secondary Capture (OT) of Images and are able to merge dynamically into the VistA workflow.

About this validation, the Care Coordination Telehealth Manager of the VA’s VISN-19, Rocky Mountain Network doesn’t mince words. “I believe this will truly help veterans,” said Jeff Lowe, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.

“As a Marine Corps veteran, I am honored that GlobalMedia can play a role in improving the care and treatment of our valued veterans,” said Joel E. Barthelemy, GlobalMedia’s managing director. “CapSure medical image automation bridges the integration chasm that has existed between visible and non-visible light imagery within an enterprise-wide imaging system built around electronic medical records.”

Michael Harris, development director for GlobalMedia, said, “This really raises the bar on innovation and keeping it simple. CapSure complies with the SOP Class UID = 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.7 of the DICOM 3.0 standard, but also supports client management over the network when several medical technicians or doctors are using the service at the same time.”

The workflow is done in three simple steps: find the patient, snap the images of interest and close the application when done–all while complying with the DICOM standard and the VistA architecture.

“This means that capturing images from multiple locations in real-time can easily be associated with patients already in the VistA database,” Harris said. “This really validates GlobalMedia’s commitment in supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs and the United States Department of Defense.”

The VistA validation builds on GlobalMedia’s reputation for innovating, manufacturing and marketing telemedicine solutions that provide superior image quality, unmatched versality and unsurpassed simplicity for the healthcare industry. Unlike proprietary systems, the CapSure and CONI software are standards-based units that further telemedicine and create an experience like a traditional medical office visit.
