Education Management Solutions (EMS), the world leader in simulation management and skills evaluation software and audio-video technology, announced today at the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) conference in Las Vegas, the availability of a simulated Electronic Medical Record (SIM-EMR) application for training. SIM-EMR is the first interactive simulated EMR designed to train both nursing and medical students to engage in speedier communication, provide more efficient care, and ensure more effective management of health plans for positive patient outcomes.
EMS President and CEO Anurag Singh says, “Training on SIM-EMR will provide many benefits when students practice as nurses and physicians in a health care environment. Physicians will be able to minimize duplicate tests by seeing what other physicians have ordered; view past visits to improve patient care; and avoid legibility problems with other doctors’ handwriting.
“Similarly, nurses will be able to eliminate duplicate order entries, provide more legible progress notes for nurses on succeeding shifts, spend less time documenting so that there is more time at the bedside, and have access to a more structured and organized note system for greater clarity.”
Offered as an add-on to EMS’ Arcadia Suite of products, both faculty and students regard the use of SIM-EMR to longitudinally follow a patient through a series of simulated nursing and physician encounters as practical, feasible, and desirable.
