Healthland, America’s market leader of healthcare information technology solutions for rural hospitals, today announced that its client, West Carroll Memorial Hospital, has received its initial Medicaid electronic health record (EHR) adoption incentive payment. Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, West Carroll received over $700,000 in stimulus funds. Serving residents in Northeast Louisiana and Southeast Arkansas, the 33-bed hospital is part of West Carroll Health Systems that also includes five rural health clinics and an 80-bed nursing home facility. West Carroll officials expect to receive an additional $1.5 million in Medicare incentive payments later this year.
“We were confident that we’d meet Stage 1 Meaningful Use in 2011 with our certified Healthland EHR solution,” said Randy Morris, CEO of West Carroll Memorial Hospital. “We are thrilled to have received incentive funds so early in the year. These funds are crucial to West Carroll Memorial Hospital in our effort to provide quality healthcare. In addition to helping us meet government mandates and receive stimulus funds, Healthland has provided us with a complete EHR solution that enables us to improve patient care while increasing operational efficiencies.”
The Meaningful Use-certified, Healthland Inpatient EHR is a central repository of all patient information and serves as a primary catalyst for improvements in quality of care, patient safety and cost-effective operations. From order entry to the secure viewing, sharing and retrieval of patient medical records, the Healthland EHR automates information management at every point of patient care, admission through discharge.
“It is extremely rewarding to help rural hospitals, like West Carroll Memorial Hospital, achieve their goals,” said Angie Franks, Healthland president and CEO. “Not only are we focused on our rural hospital clients in their journey to meet Meaningful Use requirements and receive stimulus funds, but we are helping them provide the high-quality patient care that rural communities across the country expect and deserve.”
“We are ahead of the curve with EHR technology and providing our patients with the best possible care,” added Morris. “And now we can add the receipt of incentive funding to our long list of benefits. Choosing a solution specifically designed for rural facilities has made all the difference for us. We have different services and different modalities that require a solution custom made for small healthcare facilities. Healthland understands that.”
