Apple’s OS X operating system is becoming a bigger part of the healthcare picture. As physicians and healthcare providers add iPhones and iPads to their personal technology collections they are beginning to consider iMacs and MacBooks as their computers of choice for home and practice use.
Whether these physicians use Macs just at home or at home and in the office they need to be able to use these great computers to access their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Unfortunately there is a fairly limited number of Mac OS X compatible EMR systems currently available, but that number is growing.
Houston Neal, from our partner Software Advice, has put together an extremely informative and up to the minute Guide to Mac EMR Software that includes both web-based and native OS X based EMR/EHR systems. As noted earlier the current market for Mac based systems is limited but there are a number of web-based systems that should be considered if you want to be able to access your EMR System from your Mac. The Guide includes products as well as the specialties and practice sizes (by number of physicians) those products serve. The guide also includes ONC-ATCB certification information.
