Rubbermaid Medical Solutions, a market leader in mobile computer carts, has today announced the launch of their second generation Medi Port. This new mobile telemedicine cart incorporates the market leading functionality of Rubbermaid’s computer carts with a very user focused telemedicine solution.
The second generation Medi Port maintains the integrity of the original Medi Port as a powerful mobile computing platform enabled with high definition video conferencing capability which can be rolled anywhere it is needed – the OR, ER, hospital ward or outpatient clinic. The device allows remote medical specialists to view patients and provide expert counsel, especially important for rural clinics and field hospitals with limited medical staff. Live surgeries can be shared remotely for purposes of mentoring and training and better diagnoses are enabled via bedside access to patient data and web-based resources.
As with the first generation product, the new Medi Port differentiates itself from other telemedicine carts by enabling customers to select the high definition camera of their choice, and integrates a computer platform to share external images during the videoconference.
The new Medi Port offers superior cable management to provide a sleeker, more compact appearance without the hazard of excess cords on the exterior of the cart. Additionally, the second generation Medi Port was remodeled with Rubbermaid’s continued mantra of creating the absolute best customer experience possible. The new Medi Port offers an electric lift, for sitting or standing, a smaller base than other carts and an intuitive multi-touch, easy to use screen. The Medi Port can be customized to most customer requests, utilizing high definition cameras and codecs from Cisco/Tanderg, Polycom, Vidyo and other producers.
“We are proud to present this second generation Medi Port which continues in the Rubbermaid tradition of creating best-in-class solutions. We believe this latest generation simplifies and considerably improves the user experience.” said Kevin Boyle, Business Leader of Rubbermaid’s Telemedicine Division. “We believe that combining market leading computer carts with the adaptability to offer customers their choice of high definition cameras and codecs makes for a winning formula in the telemedicine space.
