Nuvon, Inc. a leader in next generation medical device connectivity and interoperability solutions, today announced that Virtua has gone live with the first phase of its enterprise-wide device connectivity infrastructure starting with connectivity to the Picis Peri-Operative System utilizing Nuvon’s standards-based, open architecture VEGA™ System.
Virtua is a comprehensive healthcare system headquartered in Marlton, N.J. and includes four hospitals, an ambulatory care center in Camden and a wide range of other services, including health and wellness centers, rehabilitation and long-term care centers, home care, physical therapy and Mobile Intensive Care Units. “We wanted a solution that was flexible to meet our needs now and in the future. We knew that we could rely on Nuvon’s VEGA System to address the device connectivity and patient authentication requirements we identified at the outset of this multi-year and multi-departmental project” said Al Campanella, VP and CIO of Virtua Health. “But we also recognized that our needs would expand beyond the boundaries of our four hospital facilities. We needed a solution that would support the distributed device data collection and integration demands as defined in our vision of a totally digital healthcare system environment.”
“Virtua’s early and visionary commitment to clinical and digital technologies makes them an ideal partner for Nuvon in the delivery of next generation solutions in support of high quality, patient-centric care” said Cathleen A. Asch, Nuvon president and CEO. “The ability to collect and integrate device data across disparate devices, networks, and systems to provide clinicians with accurate, complete, and timely data to make the best medical decisions for their patients has been the goal in healthcare for many years and this is what defines Nuvon’s mission.”
Nuvon’s VEGA System is uniquely designed to provide device connectivity and integration across the complex healthcare ecosystem – from the hospital’s intensive care unit to the patient’s home – powered by an integrated, scalable, secure, and cost-effective web-based platform. As a result, current and complete medical data are available at all times so that doctors can make the best clinical decisions for the patient.
