VIVA Transcription has announced two major technology milestones that have been successfully implemented throughout 2012. The introduction of EMR integration and Auto-Faxing capabilities complement the transcription service by contributing to interoperability in an increasingly complex healthcare environment. Both features are offered for free to customers, who are only charged for their regular transcription volume.
Of the two new features the most interesting to our readers is probably the EMR integration, which was achieved through the implementation of an HL-7 engine, allowing transcripts to be sent back to providers using the most common healthcare messaging standard in the industry. Other options such as format conversion, special templates, and automated FTP transfer have also enabled custom integration solutions. According to the company there is a high demand for these capabilities as physicians struggle to adopt technology, while holding on to high quality services they trust.
Auto-Faxing adds an extra dimension to the existing faxing service offered in the customer web portal. By stating a request while dictating their notes, physicians eliminate an additional step in their workflow and ensure that a copy of the transcript is faxed to any contact in their online address book.
Both of these features are available to all customers, and setup can be easily coordinated with their dedicated account managers. “We’re pretty excited about how flexible we’ve become this year,” said Joe Turner, Director of Operations. “We’ve been able to extend our focus from the core transcription service to a full suite of practice management solutions, allowing us to provide a better service than ever.”
