Practice Fusion has adopted a new role as an accelerator and incubator for emerging startups. Building on the success of its free, web-based EMR they are seeking to foster the growth and development of new healthcare innovators. In their annoucement they are disclosing relationships with two startups. The first is Ringadoc, which brings instant medical visits to any phone or computer while the second is 100Plus, a personalized health prediction company that uses data analytics and game mechanics to show how small changes in behavior can lead to a longer and better life.
“It’s necessary for entrepreneurs to share what we’ve learned with the next generation of industry leaders. The successes and failures I experienced since founding Practice Fusion have shaped our journey to becoming the nation’s largest doctor-patient community,” said Ryan Howard, CEO of Practice Fusion, co-founder of 100Plus and a member of Ringadoc’s board of directors. “It’s this platform that lets Practice Fusion act as a ‘startup residency’ for 100Plus and Ringadoc, sharing tools they need–including our powerful patient data set–to shake things up and address the fundamental flaws in the current healthcare system.”
Practice Fusion has come a long way since its own incubation with another health company in 2009. The company’s new, four-story headquarters, located in the heart of San Francisco’s Enterprise Zone, made the addition of these two companies possible, giving them easy access to the mentorship and expertise of the Practice Fusion team and the space necessary to reach their full potential. The office has become a hub of disruptive health care innovation, featuring events such as the recent Demo Day for this year’s graduates of the health tech accelerator Rock Health.
