I’m seeing some uniquely designed and positioned Personal Health Record products that have entered the market over the past couple of months. Last week we featured a PHR being marketed to parents of small children. This week I’d like to highlight another recently released PHR product that seems to be aimed directly at users of social media.
GooPatient, goes against the trend of cloud based PHR services that charge an ongoing monthly or annual fee. They have decided to offer their product as a Windows software download that will track a single persons health information in an ad supported free version, or a family version without ads for a one time price of $19.95. The pricing alone makes this product unique, but the design and Twitter like method for entering short bursts of health information while utilizing hash tags makes GooPatient stand out in the increasingly crowded PHR space.
They’ve produced a short, informative video that shows how the product works.
While GooPatient is not a full featured Personal Health Record and does not interface with any outside data sources it does provide a simple way of tracking your health information in an easy to use journal format. Sometimes ease of use trumps feature bloat and short of a self populating system, it’s hard to imagine an easier way of tracking health information than what GooPatient provides.
