Aprima Offers Allscripts MyWay Users a Solution to Forced and Costly EMR Conversion

CurveAprima Medical Software is offering an easy way out for those Allscripts MyWay™ users who recently learned that further sales and development of MyWay have been halted, and the system will not be Meaningful Use Stage 2, 5010, or ICD-10 compliant.  MyWay is built on a legacy Aprima “core” product, which Aprima has since upgraded with nearly a thousand enhancements, including hundreds of substantive improvements to the Practice Management system. Aprima is offering a lifeline to these stranded users with a free, simple upgrade to a fully compliant EMR and PM that has the same look and feel as MyWay.

Allscripts will reportedly offer current MyWay users the opportunity to switch to another Allscripts EMR product, which would require a change in systems, plus an arduous data conversion and retraining period.   So far there have been no announcements on upgrade costs for such a switch, and those costs, if any, would be in addition to the costs involved in staff retraining and lost efficiency.

“Ironically, MyWay users can avoid such a massive disruption by switching to another provider instead of another Allscripts product. Aprima actually provided the original code for the Allscripts MyWay system, so we can painlessly upgrade these users to an EMR and PM with the same appearance and functionality,” said Aprima president and CEO Michael Nissenbaum.

“The difference between a costly conversion and a simple and proven upgrade can also make the difference on whether practices will achieve compliance on important healthcare initiatives,” continued Nissenbaum. “MyWay users who upgrade to Aprima are making a very logical and obvious choice, offered by a stable organization.”
