Cliptite – Software for Securing Personal Health Information Stored in Windows Clipboard

English: Silhouette of a clipboard to the leftSomething I’ve never thought much about is the securing of Personal Health Information that may be stored in Windows Clipboard.  You know – the stuff that get’s stored when you’re doing  “copy and paste” type actions.  Well someone is thinking about this as software developer triCerat is introducing the beta version of its Cliptite™ software that will allow healthcare providers to secure the information stored in Windows Clipboard.

“Cliptite is designed specifically for remote desktop and application environments in healthcare settings that require an additional level of security to prevent data loss when using Windows Clipboard,” says Andrew Parlette, triCerat’s Vice President of Product Engineering.

“Cliptite™ allows healthcare providers to enable the Windows Clipboard redirection across multiple ICA and RDP sessions securely – and without great implementation or testing burdens – by intercepting all data before it is copied onto the Windows Clipboard,” Musgrave explains. “The data is then encrypted and subsequently placed on the Clipboard as encrypted data, accessible only when the user is running an authorized server or workstation.

It’s an interesting to a solution to a problem that many have not considered.
