Today’s EHR and HIT News includes updates from Advocate Physician Partners, who is announcing they now have 500 physicians live on their SynAPPS, cloud based eClinical Works EHR system. Today also brings customer acquisition news from Wolters Kluwer Health and simplifyMD.
500 Physicians Now Live on Advocate Physician Partners’ EHR System
Advocate Physician Partners (APP) today announced the implementation of its 500th independent physician member on SynAPPs, the Cloud-based APP eClinicalWorks Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. A major milestone for APP, this is the largest installation of a hospital-affiliated independent physician network on the eClinicalWorks EHR in the mid-West. Additionally, 87 percent of APP’s eligible physician members on the SynAPPs system have met the Stage 1 Meaningful Use requirement, resulting in over $6.7 million in incentive dollars earned from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The SynAPPs project demonstrates how hospitals can help incentivise independent doctors, while working with a vendor, to achieve clinical integration. Electronically connecting hospitals and physicians provides more accurate and timely patient information and care.
The SynAPPs EHR system provides for confidential and comprehensive information to be shared securely between a patient’s health care team at Advocate Health Care facilities. The electronic prescribing, electronic ordering and electronic faxing features eliminate the need for paper, leading to enhanced security of patient information and reduced costs.
Additionally, the system allows patients to view test results, request and schedule appointments, request prescription refills, send secure electronic messages to their physician and view/print their electronic medical record from the privacy of their home, using the eClinicalWorks Patient Portal.
“This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our physician members and SynAPPs team to provide the best possible care to the patients we are privileged to serve throughout the Advocate Health Care system,” said Dana Gilbert, chief operating officer, APP. “The SynAPPs EHR system supports our focus of continually improving efficiency and care coordination across the continuum.”
“Advocate has been a great partner,” said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “This collaboration has delivered great success with quality improvement initiatives and has enriched information sharing via the Cloud between the hospital, independent physicians and patients to deliver better care.”

simplifyMD’s EHR Software Solution Selected by Clyo Internal Medicine
simplifyMD, an ONC-ATCB certified Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management (PM) software company, announced today that Clyo Internal Medicine, a practice serving nursing home facilities in Centerville, OH, has selected simplifyMD as its EHR provider. The addition of simplifyMD’s cloud-based solution, including e-prescribing, e-fax and dictation capabilities, will assist the practice, comprised of 17 travelling physicians, in streamlining workflow and documentation processes.
The physicians and staff of Clyo serve 17 nursing home facilities in the Dayton area and are rarely in the same office at the same time. This mobility presented a difficult challenge to centralizing documentation and communication efforts among the physicians and administrative staff. The practice was seeking a flexible solution that would consolidate data entry and create a more efficient clinical and administrative workflow – enabling access to patient information anywhere and at anytime.
“After reviewing 10 different EHR solutions, we determined simplifyMD’s cloud-based EHR offering was best able to provide us with a unique approach that adapted to our complex needs, freeing up time for physicians to focus on medical care and relieving staff of duplicate work,” said Tracy Keating, Practice Manager at Clyo Internal Medicine. “Through simplifyMD’s notable customer service and effortless implementation, we now have an easy to use EHR that didn’t require any transformation of our current forms and processes and allows us to easily interface with our billing system and with labs and pharmacies.”
The intuitive functionality of simplifyMD’s EHR and Practice Management solutions allow organizations to quickly implement the software to enhance workflow and information security, increase provider productivity, reduce the risk of errors, and meet government regulations, such as Meaningful Use.
“We are excited to work with Clyo Internal Medicine and provide them a solution that augments their current workflow processes to enhance the quality of patient care,” said Michael Brozino, CEO of simplifyMD. “The transition from paper to electronic health records can be a daunting task. By integrating each practice’s own forms, charts and current workflow processes, simplifyMD can be easily customized to suit any organization’s specific needs in a compliant fashion.”
