The Electronic Health Record Association has announced new leadership for the coming year. Results of this year’s elections return several Executive Committee members, including the chair and vice chair, and add new members, maintaining balanced representation from companies that serve healthcare enterprises with both ambulatory and acute care EHRs, and companies that focus solely on the ambulatory EHR market.
Michele (Mickey) McGlynn, Senior Director, Strategy and Operations for Siemens Healthcare, Health Services, who served her first term as Association chair in 2012-2013, will return for a second term through June 2014. Ms. McGlynn has served on the Executive Committee since 2008 and as chair of the Government Affairs Workgroup from 2008 until 2011.
Ms. McGlynn will work closely with Leigh Burchell, Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs for Allscripts, who was reelected to a two-year term on the Executive Committee and as vice chair for the coming year. Ms. Burchell was a member of the Executive Committee from 2011 and was elected to the vice chair position in 2012. She also served as chair of the Association’s Public Policy Leadership Workgroup.
“I’m delighted to continue the work we started in the past year to reinforce the Association’s leadership role in representing EHR developers and our customers with our stakeholder partners on issues that are important to us all,” said McGlynn. “I’m particularly proud of the recently announced EHR Developer Code of Conduct, the result of a collaborative effort that I believe represents real progress toward realizing the full benefits of health IT.”
Newly elected to the Executive Committee for two-year terms are Hatem (Tim) Abou-Sayed, MD, Medical Director, EMA Plastic Surgery at Modernizing Medicine, and Sam Holliday, Vice President, Population Health Services, Greenway Medical Technologies. Meg Marshall, Senior Manager, Government Health Policy, for Cerner Corporation and chair of the Privacy and Security Workgroup; Ginny Meadows, RN, Executive Director of McKesson’s Program Management Office, and chair of the Quality Measures Workgroup; and
Lauren Fifield, Senior Health Policy Advisor for PracticeFusion and vice chair of the Public Policy Workgroup, will complete the second year of their two year terms during the coming year.
Mark Segal, PhD, Vice President, Government and Industry Affairs, GE Healthcare IT, vice chair emeritus of the Association, and current chair of the Public Policy Leadership Workgroup, has been reelected to a two year term on the Executive Committee as well. “I’m looking forward to working with the new members of the Executive Committee, as well as the folks with whom I’ve been working for the past several years in the EHR Association,” Segal said. “I continue to be impressed with the professionalism, expertise, and collaborative spirit that everyone brings to our work,” he concluded.
