Socrates Analytics Hires Former McKesson Executive
Socrates Analytics, a healthcare IT company that helps hospitals to strategically control costs, today announced the hiring of Jim Evans as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Evans brings 20 years of expertise in healthcare data management, strategy, reimbursement and corporate development. He is a specialist in payer and provider markets and previously held senior roles at McKesson Health Solutions.

Socrates Analytics enables hospitals to analyze granular utilization of hospital resources to better manage risk and optimize spending. The business was launched in October 2012 with funding from University Hospitals Case Medical Center.

Alameda Health System Appoints Dr. William T. Peruzzi Chief Medical Officer
Alameda Health System (AHS), a nationally recognized public health care provider, announced it has appointed William T. Peruzzi, MD, SM, FCCM as Chief Medical Officer overseeing the delivery of high quality care to AHS patients. He begins his new position today.
Dr. Peruzzi, who has more than 25 years of clinical and healthcare administrative experience, will be based at AHS’s flagship Highland Hospital in Oakland. He will be responsible for quality and patient safety, the coordination of clinical care and will serve as liaison between physicians and medical staff among many other responsibilities.
“Dr. Peruzzi’s track record of success as a physician, an educator and as a physician-executive is unparalleled,” said Wright L. Lassiter III, chief executive officer of AHS. “His extensive experience in key strategic areas will serve a crucial role as we continue preparing for expansion and regional implementation of the Affordable Care Act in California.”
He comes to AHS from the University of Miami Hospital in Miami, Florida where he was Vice Chief Medical Officer and Executive Medical Director of Critical Care Services. In that role he had operational oversight of all critical care units at the hospital and was responsible for quality
and safety initiatives for critical care services and strategic planning for service lines requiring critical care services.
Prior to that he was Professor and Chief of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in the school’s Department of Anesthesiology, Pain Management and Peri-Operative Medicine. He has also served as Chief Medical Officer of Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas and as a Professor of Anesthesiology, Associate Chair of the Department and Medical Director of Respiratory Care at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
“Dr. Peruzzi’s experience with a nationally recognized university medical school also benefits our mission as a teaching institution,” Lassiter continued. “His experience in academia and medical practice combined with his leadership skills will be a valuable asset to our health system.”
CACI Appoints Dr. Anthony Hess as Senior Vice President, Healthcare Solutions Group
CACI International has announced that it has appointed Anthony (Tony) C. Hess, Ph.D. to serve as Senior Vice President to lead the Healthcare Solutions Group within its Federal Civilian Solutions organization. Dr. Hess is a leader and innovator with more than 22 years of success delivering high-profile software and IT professional services in healthcare and life sciences, energy and the environment, and agriculture and natural resources. His appointment reflects CACI’s continued focus and expansion in its healthcare market area.
Dr. Hess comes to CACI from Unisys Corporation, where he managed services and technology sales to federal civilian and defense health agencies. His previous positions included serving as Senior Vice President and Worldwide General Manager of the Health Solutions business unit for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), where he had direct responsibility for a Healthcare and Life Sciences organization composed of 2,100 staff with operations in 44 states and 11 countries.
In conjunction with Dr. Hess’s appointment, CACI’s Healthcare Solutions Group is relocating its operating center to Chantilly, Virginia. With the recent acquisitions of Emergint Technologies and IDL Solutions, CACI is expanding its health-related support for the Department of Health and Human Services, where it already has a major presence in the Centers for Disease Control and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. CACI has long-term presence in the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare markets and is focusing its growth in data analytics, surveillance, and care support surrounding electronic health record initiatives. As the prime developer of the VA’s Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) program, CACI is leading a critically important, high-visibility initiative that is improving medical care and benefits for veterans.
