Availity and Greenway Medical Technologies have joined forces in a project with Florida’s largest health insurer, Florida Blue, to enable physicians to exchange clinical and patient care summaries with the health plan through electronic health records software, making patient-specific clinical information accessible at the point of care.
Delivering patient history and care reminders within the clinical workflow allows physicians and other clinicians to make better-informed care decisions by helping them to understand a patient’s history; eliminate duplicate or unnecessary services; and identify other treating providers.
As part of the project, physicians using the Greenway PrimeSUITE EHR will see up to two years of patient care history sourced from Florida Blue, presented in the EHR workflow by way of integration with Availity’s patient care summary and encounter summary. Proactively presenting this information gives physicians a more holistic view of the patient’s medical history, at an opportune time in the patient encounter.
Additionally, physicians can automate the exchange of important clinical data back to the health plan for quality improvement reporting. Two-way integration at the EHR level reduces phone, fax and paper exchanges between providers and health plans, while simultaneously improving care and reducing costs.
Russ Thomas, CEO of Availity says, “Availity helps health care businesses remain healthy by meeting the information [Read more…]
Greenway Medical Technologies has announced today that customer Pediatric Associates, Bellevue, WA, will demonstrate the integrated Blue Button capabilities of Greenway’s PrimePATIENT secure web portal at the HIMSS13 Annual Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans. The demonstration will occur as part of the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase March 4-6.
Blue Button, originally developed by the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, has become a universal symbol for the advancement of consumer healthcare data access and engagement, enabling consumers to easily access their health data on demand and become more actively engaged in their own health management. ONC adapted the program as the Auto Blue Button Initiative to advance the access of readable, secure health data through widespread electronic health record (EHR) adoption to increased patient populations, and has debuted expanded functionality requirements as the “Blue Button+” innovation.
“Greenway’s integrated patient portal provides a seamless entry point for Blue Button+ as a standard for expanded data liquidity,” said GreenwayPresident and Chief Executive Officer Tee Green. “It’s important for the advancement of healthcare [Read more…]
Greenway Medical Technologies has announced that Greenway PrimeSUITE 2014 (17.0) is compliant with the ONC 2014 Edition criteria and was certified as a Complete EHR on Feb. 6, 2013 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ACB, in accordance with the applicable eligible provider certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The ONC 2014 Edition criteria support both Stage 1 and 2 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“We view Greenway’s complete EHR certification as an important achievement to support the flexibility Stage 2 allows physician practices and health systems in the selection of measures and attestation as well as innovative technology,” said Tee Green, Greenway® president and chief executive officer. “Complete certification this early helps our customers plan well in advance for care coordination approaches that will best suit patients and integrated communities of health while improving population outcomes and system sustainability.”
The ONC HIT Certification Program certifies that Complete EHRs meet all of the 2014 Edition criteria and EHR Modules meet one or more — but not all — of the criteria approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services for either eligible provider or hospital technology.
Greenways PrimeSUITE 2014’s certification number is CC-2014-699072-4. ONC HIT certification conferred by CCHIT does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The clinical quality measures to which Greenway PrimeSUITE 2014 has been certified include:
- CMS124v1 Cervical Cancer Screening
- CMS125v1 Breast Cancer Screening
- CMS126v1 Use of Appropriate Medications for Asthma
- CMS130v1 Colorectal Cancer Screening

The additional software PrimeSUITE 2014 relied upon to demonstrate compliance includes Updox NHIN Direct Messaging platform 2014.
All Greenway PrimeSUITE customers will receive PrimeSUITE 2014 v17.0 as a no-charge update. The types of incremental costs that an eligible provider would pay to implement Greenway PrimeSUITE 2014 in order to attempt to meet meaningful use objectives and measures include the purchase of a third-party database or drug formula. Greenway also charges a one-time implementation fee and yearly maintenance charge.
Card Scanning Solutions hardware solutions have been integrated with Greenway Medical Technologies’ PrimeSUITE® electronic health record and practice management solution.
As a certified partner of the Greenway Marketplace, which was developed to foster collaboration and to assist Greenway customers in evaluating and implementing certified, integrated products that add value to the state-of-the-art PrimeSUITE solution, CSSN’s scanning devices offer the functionality of automated information collection from a wide variety of identification cards.
With CSSN’s comprehensive OCR Software Developers Kit (SDK), the advanced reading technology of the scanners was incorporated directly into Greenway’s software application.
Jared Lisenby, Greenway Vice President of Business Development, said, “The Greenway Marketplace was developed to foster collaboration and speed and simplify the adoption of innovation, helping our customers easily evaluate and implement integrated products that add value to their PrimeSUITE solution. We’re pleased to partner with CSSN to offer its solutions to our customers through the Marketplace to enhance the collaboration between providers so necessary to deliver coordinated, effective and efficient care.”
The ScanShell® 800DX A6 duplex scanner is a high-speed OCR unit that offers users the ability to simultaneously capture both sides of a scanned document, such as ID cards, insurance cards, medical cards and driver licenses. The scanner is equipped with a high-speed USB 2.0 standard interface and therefore requires no external power supply. The ScanShell® 800DX scanner is lightweight and fully portable and is TWAIN and WIA compatible, making it a convenient solution for both desktop and mobile use.
The SnapShell® OCR ID reader from CSSN is a revolutionary ID camera scanner that captures driver’s license information quickly and accurately. This data can then be identified and stored into PrimeSUITE, which provides the ability to create and maintain accurate electronic records of every incoming visitor into a facility. The SnapShell® ID reader offers comprehensive coverage of government-issued identification and can also read driver’s licenses and ID cards of all 50 U.S. states and over 45 countries around the world. With its easy plug-and-play installation, ID reading with CSSN’s SnapShell® ID scanner is as simple as snapping a picture. Once a card is placed on the scanner, the auto-detect feature triggers scanning and is able to extract both data and images from the ID card. This gives the flexibility to capture a full image of the ID card or to capture only the face and signature image.
Greenway Medical Technologies, which delivers software and business services solutions for ambulatory care providers through its PrimeSUITE® platform, today announced that Cerner has certified PrimeSUITE for interoperability with the Cerner Network suite of solutions.
