According to a recent study most physicians are now using mobile devices to support their personal and professional work so it’s important for vendors to supply them with mobile apps that will help to add value to their primary products.
As an example of that type of supporting app Kareo, a provider of cloud-based practice management and medical billing software, has released a free iPhone app that allows physicians and other medical professionals to keep track of their schedule. It’s obviously not a full blown medical billing app, but it does provide real value to the users of their billing software.
“We asked our physicians to give us their top priority for a mobile app,” said Dan Rodrigues, CEO and Founder of Kareo. “Hands down, their #1 request was the ability to see their office’s patient appointment schedule on their iPhone. We immediately began developing our app, and I’m excited that it is already available on the App Store.”
The Kareo iPhone App, designed specifically to be a companion to Kareo’s medical billing software, displays up-to-the minute appointments, showing all the patients on the clinic’s schedule and the reason for each visit. The app also provides information like the patient’s status (scheduled, already in the office, or already seen), plus patient alerts, other valuable notes from office staff.
The free Kareo iPhone app can be downloaded today by visiting the App Store. Any medical practice using Kareo for appointment scheduling , included in the Complete or Max plans, can begin using the iPhone app immediately after downloading it by logging in with their Kareo username and password.
This app is a nice example of extending a full blown product to mobile devices by making an important sub-set of the information available to a physician’s iPhone.
