Health Care DataWorks has announced that Ivo Nelson, a 28-year veteran of the healthcare industry and a recognized leader in healthcare information technology, has become a financial partner in the healthcare analytics company.
Nelson has served as a member of the Health Care DataWorks Board of Directors since 2008. He is co-founder of Encore Health Resources and chief executive officer of the startup investment advisory firm WealthLink. Encore Health Resources provides information technology consulting services to assist healthcare organizations with a wide range of strategy, advisory, implementation, process-redesign and optimization activities. Prior to co-founding Encore, Nelson led IBM’s Global Healthcare Provider business and was the CEO of Healthlink, which he built into the largest privately-held, provider-focused healthcare information systems consulting firm until acquired by IBM in 2005.
“Ivo’s commitment to Health Care DataWorks is a testament to the fact that we are well positioned as the leading provider of healthcare analytics and business intelligence solutions for hospitals and health systems of all sizes,” said Herb Smaltz, Health Care DataWorks CEO. “More importantly, his increased involvement in HCD brings an unmatched level of healthcare information technology experience and a deep understanding of the industry that will create synergies among our team.”
Nelson has been recognized for his many accomplishments, such as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and recipient of the CHIME Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award given by healthcare CIOs to one person per year who most contributed to healthcare IT over a 20-year period. Most recently, he was selected as one of “HIMSS 50 in 50: Memorable Contributors in HIMSS 50-Year History” for lasting and influential contributions to the theory, adoption and use of healthcare information systems.
“I fundamentally believe that health analytics will be the next big wave in health care. Health Care DataWorks is the best positioned firm in this industry to provide solutions to this space,” Nelson said. “Their ability to shorten the time frame for implementation and solve for the challenges of finding the deep technical talent needed to do this work has made them a very attractive option for clients at all levels. And if that’s not enough, Herb and his team know this industry, have tremendous customer focus and are fun to work with.”
