HealthFusion’s® ePrescribing (eRx) System Has Been Awarded the Surescripts® White Coat of Quality for 2012
HealthFusion, Inc. is proud to announce that the MediTouch EHR e-prescribing (eRx) system has been awarded with the Surescripts White Coat of Quality for 2012, for the second year in a row. Surescripts’ White Coat program is part of a larger effort to increase the overall quality and accuracy of e-prescribing, by recognizing the organizations who uphold the highest standards of prescription content quality available.
Previously certified as a Surescripts Solution Provider, the MediTouch e-prescribing system is designed to facilitate increased care quality and patient safety. As one of the first five pure ambulatory EHR companies to achieve Meaningful Use EMR Stage 2 certification, MediTouch’s e-prescribing system is among a select few to be recognized with the Surescripts White Coat of Quality.
A two-time recipient of the White Coat of Quality award, HealthFusion has been recognized to:
- Provide a signed commitment from company leadership affirming their organization’s commitment to quality.
- Measure quality metrics as specified in the published industry guidelines and report those metrics to Surescripts.
- Implement changes to software that addresses issues identified during quality reporting.
- Raise prescriber awareness through education and training.
“Surescripts has awarded MediTouch their quality award for two years in a row. We like to say that one time is a sign of excellence, but two years is a sign of commitment. We work closely with Surescripts to continue to improve the quality, efficiency, and accuracy of the e-prescribing experience for MediTouch EHR prescribers,” stated Seth Flam, DO, CEO and President of HealthFusion. “Our e-prescribing solution has been certified by the Drummond Group as Meaningful Use 2014 compliant and we are pleased that the Surescripts White Coat of Quality evaluation process has allowed us to continue to demonstrate our commitment to quality e-prescribing solutions.”
Winona Health Extends Partnership With IOD Incorporated To Leverage Closed-Loop Approach To ICD-10 Education, Training
IOD Incorporated, the leader in full-suite health information management (HIM) solutions for hospitals, healthcare systems and clinics, today announced Winona Health’s selection of the IOD Learning Institute (ILI) education program and ICD-10 GYM, an automated technology that tests readiness via coding actual charts and DRGs in ICD-10, while providing immediate feedback on productivity and accuracy.
By selecting curriculum and courses through ILI combined with ICD-10 GYM, the Minnesota-based not-for-profit health system will be able to roll out a closed-loop approach to ICD-10 training across the enterprise where learners take initial courses and then put their critical thinking to the test via an applied learning platform. Real-time performance data on productivity and accuracy will redirect coders to specific training information for further improvements where needed, while also identifying broader systemic productivity and accuracy gaps through data-driven analytics. As a result, directors and other leaders will be able to secure actionable insight from the ICD-10 GYM predictive reports that forecast the need for additional coders as well as ICD-10 associated revenue impacts.
“When seeking a solution for ICD-10 education and preparation, extending our partnership to include IOD’s ICD-10 GYM and training programs proved a natural fit,” said Darlene Pozanc, director of HIM at Winona Health. “IOD’s sound approach to education and training provides a complete solution to ICD-10 for our coders from classes through data-driven impact analyses, taking the guesswork out of what is a very significant transition in the industry.”
Following initial curriculum and hands-on learning courses, Winona Health’s coders will forgo dual-coding and apply their knowledge with ICD-10 GYM by coding real charts directly in the expanded code set. This approach will minimize the need for dual coding, which softens the productivity hit many organizations will face. Through the use of the ICD-10 GYM, management can catch and correct potential coder insufficiencies, addressing challenges that might otherwise hinder workflow after ICD-10 implementation.
“The ICD-10 transition brings with it a number of changes to the way health systems operate, and with change comes uncertainty for healthcare providers and in particular HIM professionals,” said George Abatjoglou, CEO of IOD. “Through our existing partnership providing ROI services, we’ve seen Winona’s dedication to overcoming industry challenges without compromising productivity. Winona’s focus on HIM training and assessment measurement reflects the health system’s commitment to ensuring financial stability and quality outcomes, and we look forward to their success as the ICD-10 transition unfolds.”
