New IPA for Podiatrists Formed in Illinois
A new Podiatry Independent Physicians Association (IPA) has been formed in Illinois. Headquartered in Chicago, Med-Surg Specialists IPA of Illinois was formed by Dr. Sev Hrywnak to provide guidance and direction to podiatric physicians in these ever changing times in the health industry.
“With the healthcare landscape rapidly changing, we have to make sure that Podiatry is included. The IPA has the metrics in place that will demonstrate to Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) that our group of Podiatric Physicians can provide the best medical and surgical care with cost containment and place our group of Physicians in the mainstream of patient care going forward,” said Dr. Hrywnak.
Med-Surg Specialists IPA of Illinois will work directly with the Illinois Physicians and Surgeons Management Services, a medical management company. “Solo Podiatry practice will soon be a thing of the past. Belonging to an IPA will insure inclusion in an ACO. With one hospital closing a month in the United States, the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and the reduction of fee-for service reimbursement, the need to have organized patient care by a team of physicians and physician extenders on an out-patient basis is crucial. We must insure that Podiatry is included in this new healthcare era,” concluded Dr. Hrywnak.
The IPA will provide each member with the guidelines that ACOs are looking for along with CME credits, billing consultation, ICD-10 updates, EMR, access to board certification, surgical staff privileges at local surgical centers and office management consultation.
